DAY 15 HIGHLIGHTS(Mon Sept 14,2009):
* Men Single's Final:Del Potro dethrones Federer to become 2009 US Open Champion. He beat Federer in 5 sets- 3-6 7-6(5) 4-6 7-6(4) 6-2. He put an end to Federer's 40 winning streak in US Open and also ended Federer from getting 6th consecutive US Open title. Federer was leading in second set, but Del Potro came back strongly to win the set in tie break. Federer didnt looked comfortable in tie break. Del Potro on claiming 4th set in tie break, went to final set with that momentum to broke Federer twice and won the set and the match. This was Del Potro first career grandslam title and became second Argentinian to win the US Open title.

DAY 14 HIGHLIGHTS(Sun Sept 13,2009):* Kim Clijsters Crowned 2009 US Open Champion. She beat C Wozniacki 7-5 6-3 in final to clinch her second Grandslam title and second US Open title. She made her comeback after two years. She had taken break after having a child. Clijsters is the first mother to win a Grandslam since Evonne Cawley.

* Men's Doubles Final:
Paes/Dlouhy conquered the US open Double title by defeating Bhupathi/Knowles pair by 3-6 6-3 6-2. They came back strongly after after losing first set poorly. They fired up in second set to win it by 6-3. Knowles like Paes was wounded, had stiches in fingers . Finally Paes-Dlouhy came up with good tennis to defeat them. This was their second grandslam together and this was second loss in final of grandslam for Bhupathi/Knowles in this year.

* Women's Doubles Semi final: Black/Huber beat Stouser/Stubbs by 5-7 6-3 6-1 to set clash with Williams sister in tomorrow final.
* Del Potro ousted Rafael Nadal by 6-2 6-2 6-2 to move to Final of US Open. This was Del Potro first major grand slam final. And this was Nadal worst defeat in grandslam.
* Serena Williams was fined $10,500 for her on-court behavior in semi final match, $10,000 for misconduct and $500 for racquet abuse.

DAY 13 HIGHLIGHTS (Sat Sept 12,2009):* Kim Clijsters defeated World No 2 and defending champion Serena Williams to enter final by 6-4 7-5. In second set,Serena reacted angrily to linewomen when called for foot fault. Serena was given a point penalty and it was on match point, due to her unsportsmanlike conduct.In another semi final Wozniyaki beat Wickmayer by 6-3 6-3.
* Rafael Nadal finished the game as soon as possible which was halted due to rain on thursday,he beat Gonzalez by 7-6(2) 7-6(2) 6-0 to make clash wit Del Potro in Semi final.
* Women's Double semifinal was suspended due to rain and it was postponed to Sunday.
Stouser/Stubbs won the first set by 7-5 when the match was stopped due to rain.

DAY 11 HIGHLIGHTS (Thu Sept 10,2009):*Defending Champions Black/Paes were dethroned by Gullickson/Parrott by 6-2 6-4 who played exceedingly very well compared to the no2 seeds. The No2 seeds didnt find their rhythm throughout the match and Cara Black lost all her serves in both sets. This was first major title for the USA pair and they just lost one set in their first round match against Petrova/Mirnyi and knocked off three seeded players including Top seeds Huber/Bhupathi in their journey to finals.

* Nadal Vs Gonzalez has been halted due to rain and will be resumed on Friday. Nadal was leading 7-6 6-6(3-2) when the play was suspended due to rain.
* Williams sister moves to final of Women double after a hard fought victory against Makaraova/Kleybanova by 7-6 4-6 6-2.
DAY 10 HIGHLIGHTS (Wed Sept 9,2009):* Roger Federer Cruises to semi final by defeating Robin Soderling by 6-0 6-3 6-7(6) 7-6(6). Soderling came back strongly in thrid set especially in tie break. Fedex was leading 5-0 in tie break but Soderling hit hardly and played exceptionally well than Federer to win the tie break by 8-6. With the same form Soderling troubled Federer little and both never gave up easily and it went on to tie break where FedEx dominated and won it by 8-6 to register his place in semi final.
* Novak Djokovic booked a semi final berth against Federer by winning the match against Fenando Verdasco. He defeated Ferdasco in four sets by 7-6(2) 1-6 7-5 6-2. This was Djokovic third consecutive semi final in US Open and was his first semi final in this year in grandslam.
* Oudin faiytale has been ended by 9th seed Wozniacki in straight sets by 6-2 6-2. She will meet Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium in semi final. Wickmayer who was ranked 50, defeated Bondarenko by 7-5 6-4 to move to semifinal.
* Bryan Brothers were defeated by L Paes/L Dlouchy pair to move to finals of Men Doubles. It was Paes/Dlouchy second consecutive appearance in final of US Open. They defeated Bryan Brothers by score of 6-4 3-6 7-6(6). They now will meet M Bhupathi/M Knowles pair who won 6-4 6-2 over M Mirnyi/A Ram pair.
*Cara Black and Liezel Huber defeated Nuria Vives and Maria Martinez Sanchez with a score of 6-3, 2-6, 7-5. In the other women's double quarterfinal match, Serena and Venus Williams advance to the semifinals by beating Zi Yan and Jie Zheng in straight sets 7-5 6-4. Williams sisters will meet Alisa Kleybanova and Ekaterina Makarova in semifinal.

DAY 8 HIGHLIGHTS (Mon Sept 7,2009):* Federer was in top form to register win against Tommy Robredo by 7-5 6-2 6-2 and moves to Quarter- Finals where he will meet Soderling. Soderling- the French Open finalist was leading 7-5 3-6 6-2 against Davydenko who retired due to thigh injury.
* Verdasco dismisses home hopes when he defeated Isner 4-6 6-4 6-4 6-4.
* Djokovic storms into Quarter Finals by defeating Stepanek in straight sets 6-1 6-3 6-3.

DAY 7 HIGHLIGHTS Sun Sept 6,2009):* Clijsters comback continues with a stunning win over Venus Williams by three sets 6-0 0-6 6-4. Clijsters will meet Na Li in next round.
* Serena continues her good form with victory against Hantuchova by 6-2 6-0. Serena now wil meet Flavia Pennetta who beat 7th seed Zvonereva by 3-6 7-6 6-0. Pennetta escaped many match points, finally cruised to win the second set and won the macth.
* Rafael Nadal moves to next round with a solid victory against Almagro 7-5 6-4 6-4. Nadal was forced to call his trainer due to injury which made a setback to his further matches to clinch his first US Open title. He will meet Gael Monfils in Next match.

DAY 6 HIGHLIGHTS(Sat Sept 5,2009):* Federer moves to 4th round by losing a set. He beat former champion Lleyton Hewitt by 4-6 6-3 7-5 6-4. Federer will next face Spaniard Robredo who beat Americans' favourite James Blake in straight sets 7-6 (7-2) 6-4 6-4.
* Safina and Sharapova were dumped by US open Teen stars Kvitova and Oudin respectively. Kivotiva is world number 72 - and she won 6-4 2-6 7-6 while 17 yr old Oudin beat Sharapova by 3-6 6-4 7-5.
* John Isner of USA stuns Andy Roddick. Roddick lost in 5 set thriller,Isner hit 32 aces compared to Roddick 20 ace. Isner won by score of 7-6 6-3 3-6 5-7 7-6 who will meet Verdasco in next round. Verdasco won hard fought match against Tommy Haas by score of 3-6 7-5 7-6 (8) 1-6 6-4.
* Djokovic struggled little but managed to come back against the American Qualifier Witten to win by 6-7 (2), 6-3, 7-6, (2) 6-4.

DAY 4 HIGHLIGHTS (Thu Sept 3,2009):* Elena Dementiva was knocked out by 17 yr old American Oudin by 5-7,6-4,6-3. It was the first match of that day and it went more than 2hrs and finally Oudin put all her efforts inspite of her injury.
* Another upset of the day was Jelana Jankovic. She was defeated by Shvedova of Kazakhstan 6-3 6-7(4) 7-6(6).

DAY 1 (Mon Aug 31,2009) HIGHLIGHTS:* Men Top seed and Defending Champion Roger Federer moves to second round with a comfortable 6-1 6-3 7-5 win over local boy David Birtton. Britton played his best in third set by breaking federer serve and took a lead of 4-3 but Roger broke his next serve. When it was expected to be tiebreak in third set, a double fault by Britton gave advantage to Federer and Fedex won the point to make it as 7-5 in third set.It was his 35th straight wins for Federer in New York.
